RETIREMENTS

Rear Adm. Grafton Chase Jr.

38 YEARS OF SERVICE | MAY 31, 2024

Chase retired after 38 years of service and relinquished command of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution to Rear Adm. Michael A. York, during a change of command ceremony Friday, May 31.

Chase's afloat tours were aboard USS Clark (FFG 11) and USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67). He served staff tours with the Naval Aviation Supply Office, where he was weapons system manager for the EA-6B Prowler during Operation Desert Storm and flag aide.

Chase affiliated with the Navy Reserve in 1996. His assignments include Military Traffic Management Command; Navy Cargo Handling Battalion 10; Navy Reserve Readiness Command South; Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Fleet Readiness and Logistics; Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group; Navy Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Global Logistics Support; Logistics Programs and Business Operations, Office of Chief of Naval Operations; Naval Forces Europe/Africa; and Defense Logistics Agency Headquarters.

His command tours include Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Norfolk Det. 207; Navy Cargo Handling Battalion 8; Defense Finance and Accounting Service Cleveland 105; 4th Navy Expeditionary Logistics Regiment; NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Pearl Harbor; and NAVSUP Global Logistics Support.

He was deployed in 2005 as deputy commander, Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Force

Forward, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. He again deployed in 2010/2011 as group commander, Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group Forward and Commander Task Group 56.3 in support of Operations New Dawn and Enduring Freedom.
